THE CLIENT

Organization: Global Fortune 100 Management Consulting and Professional Services Firm
To enhance and accelerate their inclusive, innovative, high-performing, talent-led organization and position their organization as a leader in I&D and beyond, our client wanted an executive to drive Inclusion and Diversity as a business imperative throughout their U.S. 30,000 employee business.

Position: Head of Inclusion and Diversity, North America

THE CHALLENGE
  • This Fortune 500 organization aspires to have the most inclusive and diverse workforce across abilities, age, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.
  • The Chief Executive Officer, North America, had committed to full transparency and accountability, including annual reporting on all diversity statistics and on all diversity and inclusion matters within this business-critical region.
  • Candidates for the position needed to have a demonstrated track record of creating an organizational culture where diversity and I&D objectives were seamlessly incorporated into all other business imperatives, as well as have a recognized reputation as a thought leader in inclusion in corporate America.
OUR APPROACH
  • To achieve this organization’s formidable goal, we cast a broad net to identify proven game changers from a diverse pool of individuals.
  • Through a combination of conducting original research to identify best practice companies who have been the most successful in creating diverse and inclusive cultures, speaking with knowledgeable market sources and experts in the field, and analyzing candidate pools from past relevant searches, we curated a short list of successful thought leaders
    on the topic.
  • We assessed each candidate’s ability to: implement transparent, measurable processes and steps to increase the hiring and retention of diverse talent at all levels; challenge how a complex organization thinks about, acts on, and achieves diversity and inclusion; and position the organization as a diversity and inclusion leader in both their industry and region.
CANDIDATE BACKGROUND:
  • The female candidate ultimately selected by our client was a recognized thought leader in the inclusion and diversity space, where her achievements included inclusion on Ebony magazine’s “Power 100” list and testifying before the United States Congress for the launch of the Congressional Caucus for Black Women and Girls.
  • Prior to being appointed to this new position, the candidate had served as the Global Head of Diversity at a Fortune 500 financial services institution consistently listed by Forbes as “One of the World’s Most Valuable Brands,” and as Global Chief Diversity Officer of a publically-traded Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company.
IMPACT & RESULTS:

Within her first six months in the position, this Head of I&D has worked with talent acquisition leaders to increase the recruitment of more diverse talent across all business lines, and positioned the organization as a corporate leader with a “story to tell” about diversity and inclusion and as an employer of choice amongst a broader demographic.

THE CLIENT

Organization: Global Publicly-Traded Industrial & Technology Company
Recognized by Fortune magazine as one of their “100 Fastest Growing Companies,” our client specializes in the development and manufacturing of specialty materials. They sought to diversify and expand their Board of Directors, and strengthen the Board’s scientific and technical expertise.

Position: Board Director

The Challenge
  • Our client required a Board Director who could help the company expand its business into new markets and advise on new go-to-market strategies globally.
  • Candidates for the position needed to be actively engaged, proven business leaders (CEO, COO, CTO or CFO background) in large, public corporations within the technology or life sciences industries.
  • The Board wanted a panel of candidates from diverse global backgrounds and demonstrated track record of growing
    a company.
  • We looked at C-Suite leaders who had an impeccable reputation with their own boards, the CEO, peers and running a large P&L.
Candidate Background:
  • Our client’s chosen candidate, a PhD and scientist by training, had lived overseas, had a global background in general management, manufacturing, research development and medical affairs, and was a successful business leader in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
  • She is currently the President of Operations of a Fortune 100 life sciences organization, where she reports to the CEO/Chair and leads a team of 6,000 globally.
Impact & Results:

Having recently been appointed to the Board of Directors, this executive has already made strategic inroads in positioning the organization for sustained growth, sustained growth in new markets and distribution channels.
